Week 4 - Art of Observation - AMAZING

This week's assignment "What Amazes You".  This is sort of a time capsule documenting what amazing you right here, right now, this week.
Again we used Heidi Swapp's memory file technique.  This was a fun project.  The right side of the folder is actually mounted on foam core, so the mini books sit down in little pockets of sorts.
I made a few elements with photoshop to go along with my Heidi Swapp files.  I also used some BoBunny papers on my files.
Isn't this fold out album idea fun?  I love it!
My top book focused on technology.  I mean really who would have ever thought we'd use "Google" as an everyday word and think nothing of walking around checking for emails and making phone calls.
The flip side of my albums.   Thanks for looking!

Art of Observation Week 3 - Your Song

This is our Week Three assignment.  Create a memory file using your favorite song, or a song that speaks to you, or a song that just makes you happy.  I chose You are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder for my project.  I used to sing this song to the kids when they were little.
Again we learned how to put a mini album inside the folder system.  This one was just a slightly different technique.
I used my new Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic folders and made some elements with the Silhouette Cameo & Photoshop.  I made all of the elements on this page.  I bought quite a few of Heidi's elements that go with her line, but they are so pretty I didn't want to use them.  I know.. I have issues.
This was a fun page.  Heidi showed how to make an envelope pocket on the inside of a flap from a piece of manilla file folder, I changed it up a bit and used a vellum envelope and left the manilla flap off.  I didn't want the manilla color in my color scheme.  All of the elements on this page were handmade and cut with the silhouette.
This is my title.  I wrote the SunShine on a piece of white paper, scanned it, then opened it in the Silhouette Software and traced and cut it.  So cool.

Cards Hugs & Hearts

The first card I've made in quite awhile.  I've been busy with the Art of Observation class and haven't even thought about a card.  I threw this one together today.  I was out of practice.

Art of Observation Week 2

So sorry I haven't been posting much. I'm taking the class over at Big Picture Classes with Heidi Swapp, I've got my submissions for Jessica Sprague's Creative Design Team, and to top it off it's TAX WEEK at work, and I've had company at my house for the last 4 weekends. So I haven't had a lot of time for cardmaking. I'll be back! This week's focus in our Heidi Swapp Art of Observation Class is Anticipation. For this class we are making a memory file to plan an event of some sort, later we will add the actual event photos and memories to the file. This was a fun challenge. Hard to scrap ahead of time, but in actuality, this portion of the folder will help me think about the upcoming event, what I need to pack, my travel arrangements, what I want to do while I'm there, etc. I chose my upcoming trip (2nd week of May) to Pebble Beach for work and then a quick visit to my brother in Los Angeles. I can't wait!!
I'm still waiting on my Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic things to arrive, so in the meantime I'm using these fun folders I bought at Staples.
I'm hoping my Sugar Chic Collection arrives within the next day or two.  I've been tracking it at Fed Ex and it seems to be stuck in Phoenix!?!  It went from Tucson to Phoenix where it has sat for 3 days.  I thought for sure it would be here by today.

I made some elements in Photoshop.  It's pretty simple, but I always end up going back and blinging after the fact.  It's just how I scrap.

The Art of Observation Class with Heidi Swapp

I signed up for yet another class. It's The Art of Observation class with Heidi Swapp at BigPictureClasses.com. The class is based on (of course) Observations. Learning to observe your world and not just busily pass through it. Heidi then shows you a fun new way to document your observations utilizing her new Memory File System, which is a way of scrapbooking in a file folder. It's so fun and inspirational. We just finished the first lesson and I believe you can still enroll through tomorrow.
This is my file folder.  I have Heidi's new product line ordered, but it's not arrived yet, so I used what I have.

Here is the inside of my book.  It's so fun.  Very interactive!  Heidi designed this cute mini book to go inside.

Here is a picture of one page in my mini book

The last page of my memory file.  See that word beautiful?  Heidi gave us the png file and I cut it out with the Silhouette Cameo.  Isn't it awesome.  I just love the delicate cuts of the Cameo and Heidi's handwriting is gorgeous!

See the Beauty in Every Day Layout

I made this using a couple of different digital kits.  First were the papers by Splendid Fins new kit called "when skies are grey" and the brushes were by Pink Paislee called "Country Lane" both will be available soon at Jessicasprague.com.  This layout focuses on Recolorization meaning that I made the photo black and white and then brought color back to just the roses.  You can learn this technique on this weeks Photoshop Friday at JessicaSprague.com.

Digital Layout with Samantha Walker Cottontails

This digital layout was made using the Samantha Walker Cottontails Papers & Embelishments.  It's such a fun and springy kit.  I wish I had Easter Photos to plug in to the photo slots, but that was a long time ago.   Someday there will be little ones around again, until then, you get last year's spring blooms.
