  1. I will NEVER buy another Cricut machine. I own an Expression and an Imagine and the fine folks at Provo Craft feel that it is fine to just leave these two machines in the dust in order to force people to buy their newest, latest and greatest. I have THOUSANDS of dollars worth of machines, cartridges and other various Provo Craft items including a My Story which is another fine product they have left by the wayside.
Cricut Craft Room no longer plays nice with my Expression, Provo Craft's response, "eventually you will have to replace your Expression". WHY?!?!?! It works well and does what I need it to, why should I be forced to upgrade?
Any company that treats me in this manner doesn't deserve my business and if I had known from the beginning that this would happen I would not have purchased any of their products.

    1. I'm sorry you feel that way. You are truly missing out on a great machine that is able to do so much more. Like with all technolgy, there are improvements, and I, for one, am so excited about that! Just like 8 track tapes became cassette tapes, which became DVDs which are now digital... analog phones became digital, which went to flip phones and now we have smart phones, big counsel TVs were black and white, then color and now compact flat screen with HD picture... things just get better Doesn't mean you can't stick with old technology if you want, but I prefer the latest and greatest. Thank Goodness for the awesome Drive of the Cricut Team to just keep improving!

  2. Sue - this is ashish arora, the CEO of Cricut. I happened to see your comment and am genuinely sorry you feel this way. We can definitely try and help you with the Expression. We have the same challenge many companies do in electronics. When a product gets 6-7 years old, suppliers in China go out of business, component manufacturers phase out components and they become increasingly hard to maintain. Technology and interface standards change by the computer industry. Hence the dilemma. I joined the company in Feb 2012 and we have been trying to build products that we can maintain as much as possible. They are built to last but at some point, in a few years we will face the same situation. I promise you that our little company is trying very hard to win back customers and provide incredible products and service. Our customer satisfaction is currently the highest it has ever been. I hope that we will be able to delight you in the future. Best Rgds ashish arora (Cricut CEO)

  3. Sue I know exactly how you feel. I have the original cricut, the expression, the imagine and just like you thousands of dollars invested in cartridges and assorted cricut products. Also, just like you I was angry at cricut for leaving the loyal customers behind for the lure to buy yet another machine. But, I finally gave in and bought the cricut explore air. I have to admit it is absolutely the best of the best. I will be donating my old machines that work perfectly to a school that could use them. And like you I also have the your story machine STILL in the box never opened. My only hope is that when cricut has any new ideas or improvements they will something that can be done to the current machine and not have to purchase another one. Because, Provo, are you listening???? this IS my last machine! Best of luck sue I wish you the best for whatever machine you decide to keep and use.

  4. SUPER video, I really want the Explore. I'm tempted to put it on my Santa list. I'm trying to be a loyal Cricut customer... but I really got "burned" on the Imagine. It was 1/2 off and I got it.....less than a year later they retired it. OUCH!!! Now I see the original Explore is almost 1/2 off....uh oh..... Don't want to get burned again. I better wait!
I'm still LOVING my Expression and Gypsy and 60+ cartridges.
My Imagine is a dust collector along with the 12 Imagine carts...I want to get the Explore cause the Imagine cartridges are suppose to work with the Explore but they closed the Cricut message board and I don't do facebook so I don't know whats going on with the Explore anymore...except thru blogs and youtube. I really want the Explore and IF it does everything that it's suppose to do it would really heal the "burn" on the Imagine. I have a Silhouette Cameo and I really like it but the Cricut has A LOT MORE DESIGNS that I like! Thanks for keeping me informed on the Explore.

  5. Ms. Cricaholic - this is ashish arora and I am the CEO of Cricut. I joined in 2012 to lead the company and reinvigorate our innovation and more importantly our culture of "customer centricity".

I respect how you feel about us at Cricut. Lori Nunemaker felt the same way when I initially requested her to review the Explore almost 18-20 months ago. I promise you we have made significant changes to ensure that we can delight our customers. For Imagine customers, we have given them access to all Imagine cartridges for free to use on their Explore.

Also, when we built Explore, we created a platform where all Explore derivatives were built off the same platform. Every feature we have added for Explore Air and Explore One also works on the original Explore. All 3 products have the same underlying technology, components etc.

We closed the message board as we are a small team and needed to focus our efforts on fewer things so that we can do them incredibly well.

Our best product that we had ever built was the Expression. The customer satisfaction on Explore is 3 times higher than the Expression.

Great products and experiences are a result of great cultures. At Cricut, we have used the last 3 years to build an amazing culture. A culture where it is everyone's job to support our customers - it starts with me. I hope that someday you can believe in us again - we will delight you. Several tens of thousands of people gave us that chance and are today loyal Cricut customers again.

    1. Thanks for your reply Ashish Arora (Cricut-CEO)
From the videos I've seen on the Explore it does look a lot more fun/easier than my Expression and Gypsy. I've really enjoyed Lori's videos. She's very inspiring!! I'll ask Santa for the Explore. (I've been GOOD) ha ha

    2. I also was a Cricut girl but moved to Silhouette after fighting with my Cricut Imagine for about a year. My Cricut Expression original was a real work horse so I was really surprised that the Imagine worked so poorly. I am about to replace my Cameo. It is older (5 years) and the software upgrades in the last 6 months are not working well with it. It crashes a lot. I was pleased to see you took time to read customer comments on this blog and answer them. I will consider Cricut again as an option as I review cutters after the new year. Best to you and your company.

  6. I have the explore air and I use it daily. I love it. I am still learning how things work but, I really have not had any issues with the machine itself, it's me learning what and how to do things. And I am sure, in a few years, there will be something bigger and better. It's the way it works, but for now, thank you cricut, love my machine.
