Girls Weekend 2009 Mini Album

I finally finished my Girls Weekend 2009 mini album. Thought I'd share with everyone, this is picture heavy! lol Between the four of us we had over 600 photos! WHEW!

Day one... SHOPPING.. I believe these particular photos are Hobby Lobby. We were armed with COUPONS!
After shopping, off to Hacienda for Margaritas!!! Wooohoo! Guess What? Robyn Loves Strawberry Margaritas! Who knew!!?

After lunch, it was back to the house for Strawberry Daq's and a little rest time before our big night out.
Here we are all ready for our night on the town... we talked my daughter into taking photos... she kept saying.. "MOM, YOUR EYES!".. lol
Never ones to miss a photo op.. we even took photos on the way to our destination...
Yes, I'm driving in this photo.. but Jodie took the picture!
OK... so here we all in all our glory... we had soo much fun! A lot of classmates joined us, sorry for the glare on the photos

We danced the night away!!!
OK.. just for the record, I posed for that picture, I was not really singing... (well not in that picture anyway!) lol
On the train headed to Chicago... can you tell we kinda had too much fun the night before.. all I can say is it was a LOOONNNNGGGG train ride!
We had lunch at the top of the Hancock Building (the Signature Room)... Robyn took this awesome picture from up there.. you can see the whole city from the women's BATHROOM!

After a long day and a lot of walking in Chicago.. we were back on the train, headed home

Cocktails anyone?

The end.. thanks for looking!!!

My Girls Weekend 2009

This is us getting ready to get on the train to head to Chicago
The photo below was taken when we were in Chicago. Another friend from High School joined us and showed us the city. She's lived there for 20 years.

This is Robyn and I, she flew in from Florida. We thought it was funny, we were almost dressed alike! lol

Our lunch day one. A tradition... Margarita's at Hacienda. We picked up Robyn at the airport, then went to M's, J's and HL.... then back for lunch.

The girls getting ready to go to our home town and meet up with a bunch more classmates... Our graduating class was a total of 52 students. We had over 20 show up Friday night for our get together... it wasn't even an official reunion... too much fun!

Here's just a quick a couple photos from this year's get together. We had sooo much fun! Yesterday, we scrapped our weekend in a mini album... I only got about half done, will post the completed book when I complete it.

Here's an for Magoo... I loved, Loved, LOVED her Winter Wreath she made for the Gypsy Challenge. She's also made an incredible Halloween Door Cling... check her out...

Best Wishes

Trying to use some of the stamps and ribbon that I've been COLLECTING! lol Who knew you actually are supposed to use this stuff!!?!

Background Stamp

Thought I'd try my hand at using a background stamp. The pattern paper is white cardstock stamped with the flowers. I like the way it turned out.

Another repost

I posted this before, but it was absolutely blurry.. I've been messing around with my camera settings and retaking some of the photos that were bad..

repost earlier card

I was just going through my stash of cards and came across this one. I don't think I ever looked at it after it dried all the way.. the rain turned out not half bad.

friends

This card I made the other day. I called it my ugly card. I totally did not like it. It's starting to grow on me... but I find it interesting how your mood reflects what you create.

All About Me Book - Challenge #5

Just finished the dad side of my book...

Similar to last week, this week is to focus on your parents. I thought I would do a two page layout. One for my mother and one for my father. I've only got mom's page done so far, this week has been crazy... washer went out.. I mean it DIED... finally got a new washer/dryer set today, so I've been catching up the laundry.. son has been ill, work is crazy... life is getting in the way of my crafting! lol Anyway... here's my "mom" layout. Isn't she just gorgeous!?!?! (And Yes, I just noticed I misspelled Courageous!... dang.. another redo!)

Here's my lesson two... for those of you who asked. I'm taking the Jessica Sprague classes.... I'm only on week 2 of the lessons, but I highly recommend it. She's a very good instructor and you go at your own pace and can revisit the classes whenever you need.... I'm not planning my layouts.. she tells you before the class how many pics you need, so I just randomly pick them.. this is purely tutorial layouts....not making these for any books... just learning... I see a few things that need tweeked.. (i.e. the border around the 5 x 7 photo... but like I said.. I'm learning.... the cool thing is with PSE you can go back and fix/change/tweek what you might find later.

Learning Photoshop Elements

Well, I decided it's high time I learn this Photoshop Elements program that I have on my computer, which has been taunting me.. "Lorrie.. you don't know how to use this... you never will... it's complicated..!"... well today the voices were quiet enough and I was just brave enough to sign up for some online classes.. I ran it by our fellow messageboarder.. "MyaMagoo" who is fantastic at Photoshop.. and she thought I could do it.. so here is my first week one project... (it's totally step by step.. so I just did what she told me.. no design credit here... the lesson gives you the paper, the elements and where to put them.. all part of the learning the tools).. anyway.. I was thrilled to be learning to use this program.. turns out it's no so scary afterall!... (PS.. for those of you worrying.. no, I really don't hear voices... as long as you don't count the shopping ones... lol)

Challenge #4 - Book of Me

This challenge was to describe, your family unit growing up. I had a hard time with this one. I've packed my mothers things away and it is hard to pull them out and look at them, but it's bittersweet... anyway... here's my layout for the week.

Thank you Berry Much

It's been awhile since I posted, I've went to San Francisco for work last week, then came back and have been busy, busy catching up for the time I was gone... lol. I really missed crafting and this is the first night I've had a chance, so I just whipped up this very simple Thank You card for a gift my friend dropped off the other day.

Shoe card

Another shoe card. These are so much fun. A lot of you have asked which cartridge this shoe is from.. it's the Wedding Solutions Cartridge. It's the only image I've used on it! LOL

Magic of Winter

This was a fun card. I laid it out on the Gypsy one night and forgot about it. Just cut it out and threw it together. Sorry the picture is so blurry. I didn't realize it till just now.

A few Thank You Cards

Here's a few thank you cards I needed to get sent out for all the wonderful Birthday gifts.

All about me book challenge #3

Click on any image to view it larger.

This is next week's challenge, however I'm going to be busy with work and won't have time to do it next week, so I jumped ahead. This weeks theme is how you got your name, what you name might have been... etc, etc... I really struggled with this layout. I had it all set up on my Gypsy and I knew in my head what I was going to do, but when I put it together I didn't like my color choices.. but I messed and fussed.. it's still not one of my favorites, but it's better than what I originally laid out.

Challenge 3 - All about me book

As usual, I had to tweak.. lol I decided to make this a two page layout so I can keep my book in sync. Normally I don't follow a color scheme throughout a book, I'm all over the place.. but I'm going to try and give it a whirl with this book. I'm using the K & CO Wild Saffron paper pack

Tweaked my dedication page.. I think this is better.. it has better balance

ALL about me book challenge #2

I had some time this evening and went ahead and did challenge #2 - which is "humble beginnings".. it's supposed to be a page about your birth, your stats and any stories you may have of that day. I did my journaling on a hidden tag and I did not put a title on this page. I photo copied my birth certificate and birth announcement (blurred for obvious reasons)...

I caved... I got a GYPSY!!!!!

I said I wasn't going to do it, I said I don't need it, and what do you know.. I went to Michaels on my lunch hour today and when I got home.... look what I had with me!?!??! WOOOHOO... how fun. I just got my Cricut updated and updated the Gypsy, I haven't synced cartridges yet, but will do that tonight while watching Grey's Anatomy. It's really fun, super easy.. very user friendly. I know, I know.. I'm WEAK! :)
